Pickett Productions Gets a New Name--CG Studios
New Name is Much More Than it Appears
ST. LOUIS—After 27 years, Pickett Productions has a new name. Owners Stephen Capranica and Tom Geiser today announced that the video and animation company will now be called CG Studios. The name, like the company, is much more than it appears. In the world of video and animation, CG stands for computer generated, which for the newly named company is only partially correct. Those letters also stand for the initials of the owners last names—Capranica and Geiser.
“Months ago, we tossed around many company names,” said Geiser, President and Owner of CG Studios. “We wanted something simple, but something personal. We thought using initials of our last names might work. We liked the sound of it and knew the impact of these letters in the animation industry. It fit perfectly. Art has more than one meaning and, in this case, so does our name.”
Capranica who serves as CEO of Capranica Industries, which owns CG Studios, believes that the new name will have a range of meanings.

“Working with as many companies as I have, I know how important a name is,” Capranica said. “It is your brand and identity. You want a name that stands out and draws clients or customers in, while also knowing that it can evolve. We want people to see CG and immediately think of awesome video content and technology. The bonus is that it also identifies Tom and I and will mean much more in the future as we grow.”
