SLU Renames Business School For Richard Chaifetz

The John Cook School of Business is now the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business.

ST. LOUIS, MO — St. Louis University announced today it will rename its business school and entrepreneurship center after trustee and alum Richard Chaifetz, who has donated $27 million to the university.

The money will support the school's educational mission and serve to build the business school's reputation nationally, the university said in a press release. John Cook, the business school's previous namesake, agreed to make the school's name available to other sponsors to encourage large donations.

Chaifetz founded ComPsych Corporation in 1984, a company that provides behavioral health and employee wellness programs. He also runs a private investment firm and has been a member of St. Louis University's board of trustees for more than a decade. Chaifetz and his wife Jill previously contributed $12 million toward the construction of the university's Chaifetz arena in 2007.

“I am incredibly grateful for all that my SLU education has done in preparing me for, and contributing to, my successes in life. As a passionate supporter of SLU, and with a strong belief that business education and sports play a vital role in enhancing a school’s reputation and attracting the best and the brightest students, I am honored to have contributed to SLU’s sports program through the Chaifetz Arena gift and to now have this outstanding school and entrepreneurship program named for me," Chaifetz said. “I look forward to engaging with the faculty, staff and students in the years ahead.”
