Weather Alert: Snow And Ice Possible During Monday Rush Hour

The National Weather Service is encouraging commuters to leave work early if possible. Ice and snow may hit roads starting around 4 p.m.

ST. LOUIS, MO — The National Weather Service in St. Louis is warning commuters that ice and snow may hit around rush hour Monday afternoon. Up to two inches of snow is possible and visibility will be reduced. Hazardous driving conditions should be expected, and the NWS advises commuters to leave work early if possible.

"It only takes a small amount of wintry precipitation to make roads, bridges, sidewalks, and parking lots icy and dangerous," the weather service says. "It is often difficult to tell when ice begins to form, so do not be caught off guard."

The alert covers St. Louis, St. Charles and the surrounding communities.
