5 Things to Know About the St. Peters Rec-Plex Tri ‘Wannabe’ 5K Run

St. Peters Rec-Plex Tri 'Wannabe' 5K Run will take place on Sept. 29.

1. The event is for ages 8 and up will take place at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, in conjunction with the Rec-Plex Fall Triathlon.

2. The early-entry fee for the Tri ‘Wannabe’ 5K Run is $15 for kids ages 8 to 11 and $25 for ages 12 and up. The fees increase to $20 and $30 after Friday, Sept. 13. Awards will go to the top three finishers in various age groups starting at age 12. Kids ages 8 to 11 can participate if accompanied by an adult, and they can earn a participation medal.

3.  All racers ages 12 and up receive free race shirts. Complimentary food and fruit is available for participants after the race.

4. Register for the Rec-Plex ‘Wannabe’ 5K Run online at www.stpetersmo.net/rec-connect or in person at St. Peters Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Rd. Online registration ends Sept.18.

5. To get ready for the 5K, the St. Peters Rec-Plex is offering a class called the Rec-Plex Tri ‘Wannabe’ 5K Challenge. This eight-week class for ages 8 and up is a great way for families to train together and build up endurance and strength. Classes meet on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. beginning Aug. 7. The class is free to Rec-Plex pass-holders and $40 for the general public. If you attend every Tri ‘Wannabe’ 5K Challenge class, you receive free entry into the 5K.
