Man Told Woman She Needed to Die While Sharpening Butcher Knife, Police Say

A St. Peters man faces criminal charges after police said he sharpened a butcher knife at a woman’s home while threatening her life.

David P. Knight, 55, of St. Peters, was charged March 1 with harassment and first-degree trespass.

St. Peters Police said an officer, at the woman’s request, warned Knight to leave the woman’s home in the first block of Coach Drive in St. Peters Feb. 28. Knight began to leave. The woman then said Knight had verbally abused her and threatened her over the course of six weeks.

The woman said that on Feb. 27, Knight was sharpening a butcher knife with a sharpening rod as he told her she needed to die.

Knight then came back to the home and said he decided not to leave. The officer then arrested Knight.

Bail for Knight was set at $20,000, cash only, and he is to have no contact with the victim.
