St. Peters to Raise Water and Sewer Rates
The annual rates will increase from $381 to $394.

The water and sewer rate in St. Peters will go up 3.5 percent starting in October.
St. Peters held a hearing on the proposed rates for sewer and water in the city in the 2013-2014 fiscal year on Aug. 8. The changes were approved with seven aldermen voting yes. Alderman Tommy Roberts was absent.
The annual cost for the combined rate will increase from $381.12 to $394.46.
Service charges billed on or after Oct. 1 will increase to:
Standard city solid waste container: $20.55/mo
Special city solid waste container for handicapped: $18.50/mo
Special city solid waste container for multiple housing facilities: $12.35/mo
Additional solid waste container: $14.50/mo
Special bulk containers for multiple dwelling facilities: $8.45/mo
Water Rate
First 4,000 gallons: $16.17
Next 6,000 gallons: $2.930/M
Next 10,000 gallons: $2.250/M

The city will also raise the cost to shut off or turn on water service from $10 to $25 and will raise the cost of doing so after hours from an additional $10 to an additional $50.
Customers who contribute sewer water to the system will see their rates increase from $0.27 per pound BOD to $0.34 per pound BOD.
"Even with those rate increases in place we are still the lowest cost provider of these services for solid waste and water sewer in our area," said Beth French, Director of Finance for the city.
