Flood Team Finance Director Sentenced to 34 Months in Prison for $50,000 Embezzlement

Affton resident Ruth Jackson, 47, was sentenced to 34 months in prison for embezzling over $50,000 payable to The Flood Team, LLC, with offices in Sunset Hills and Brentwood, the U.S. Attorney's Office - Eastern Missouri reported on Wednesday. She was also ordered to pay $50,000 in restitution.

She pleaded guilty to the charges in January.

Jackson was hired as director of finance for the business in August 2011. Her responsibilities included paying bills, preparing deposits, and managing various bank accounts.

According to court documents, Jackson secretly kept an old corporate account open and hidden from the owner of the business. Between November 2011 and late April 2012, Jackson embezzled the funds by diverting checks payable to The Flood Team, LLC into the secret account, wrote checks to herself, which she cashed at various locations in the area.
