Free Classses for Guitar Pickers at Guitar Center

The Crestwood store carries a full range of musical instruments and also teaches people how to use them, as well as how to record their music on a CD via a computer.

Guitar Center, 9177 Watson Road, is well equipped to provide all of the guitar pickers in Crestwood and beyond with the tools of the music trade. On its website, the store touts itself as having the world's largest selection of popular guitars, basses, amplifiers, keyboards and other equipment for musicians.

What people may not know about Guitar Center, however, is that it has free classes to help those guitar pickers, drummers, keyboardists and other prospective band members learn how to play and record their own tunes, according to Evan Connair, sales and training manager of the Guitar Center.

Every Saturday there are free guitar classes, as well as free classes in recording music to a CD. The classes are free. The guitar class also includes tips on playing a ukulele or mandolin. The recording classes provide a rundown on the use of Apple's Garage Band computer program, as well as a program called Pro Tools, for recording and mixing music on a computer.

Guitar Center also has a group of drummers who regularly meet for a drum circle to play and practice at the store.

"People generally don't know about the classes, but they're free  and open to the public every Saturday morning," Connair said.
