Restaurant Inspections: Lion's Choice, 54th Street Bar & Grill, Hunan Yu

  • Comments: A customer told the Health Department they got sick after eating a chipotle roast beef sandwich with chipotle ranch and horseradish sauce on April 5. The roast beef was being held at a proper temperature, but the chipotle ranch was not. The ranch sauce was discarded, according to the report. There were no other complaints made that day. 
Crazy Bowls & Wraps, 10758 Sunset Hills Plz.
  • Inspection date: April 8 (follow-up)
  • Grade: A (98)
  • Comments: A commercial freezer and worn floors were recommended for repair before the next routine inspection. 
54th Street Grill & Bar, 5310 S. Lindbergh Blvd.
  • Inspection date: May 16
  • Grade: A (99)
  • Comments: No soap was available in the employee bathroom, which was corrected on-site. The inspector observed some food items being stored less than six inches off the floor of the walk-in cooler, which was corrected on-site. A “heavy mold-like substance buildup” was noted on an ice machine, and required correction before the end of the business day. The inspector also found an employee’s shoes on top of a box of dressing; the shoes were moved to an area designated for employee items.

  • Inspection date: April 29
  • Grade: A (100)
  • Comments: A mop was found sitting on the floor instead of hanging to air dry. 
Bluth’s Crestwood Bar, 9822 Watson Rd.
  • Inspection date: April 25
  • Grade: A (99)
  • Comments: The inspector observed build-up on an ice machine. Cutting boards were asked to be discarded or resurfaced before the bar’s next routine inspection.
Cold Stone Creamery, 7 Ronnie’s Plz.
  • Inspection date: May 9
  • Grade: A (97)
  • Comments: Bathrooms were missing “employees must wash hands” signage. Two spray bottles were not labeled with their common names. Some food items in the walk-in freezer were being stored less than six inches off the ground.  
Hunan Yu, 11539 Gravois Rd.
  • Inspection date: May 15 (follow-up)
  • Grade: A (98)
  • Comments: Some food items were being stored less than six inches off the floor in the walk-in cooler. The restaurant was asked to replace a rice cooker with tape on the handle before their next routine inspection.
