Webster Groves resident selected as 2017 Bank of America Student Leader

Webster Groves resident and Nerinx Hall High School student Katherine Nguyen selected for the 2017 Bank of America Student Leader Program

Nerinx Hall High School rising senior Katherine Nguyen is one of five St. Louis-area teens selected to be part of the 2017 Bank of America Student Leaders program this summer. The program awards the students a paid, eight-week summer internship at a local nonprofit and a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Bank of America Student Leadership Summit.

Katherine volunteers at Give Kids a Smile, a nonprofit dental clinic for low income families. Through her dental ambassadorship, Katherine saw firsthand how education translated into confidence when the kids had a healthier, brighter smile. During a recent class trip to Washington, D.C., Katherine and her classmates presented a bill in a mock congress. This role-playing situation allowed Katherine to voice her own thoughts, as well as collaborate with her peers.

As part of the Bank of America Student Leaders program, Katherine received a paid eight-week internship. Katherine is interning at Arch City Defenders. The internships provide students with valuable work experience while also supporting the nonprofits with extra help this summer.
