Westminster’s Van Gilst Named 2016 Hal Whiteaker Memorial Award for Baseball Coach of the Year Recipient

Varsity Baseball Head Coach Rich Van Gilst was awarded on Tuesday, May 2.

The GSLAU, Greater St. Louis Association of Umpires presented the 2016 Hal Whiteaker Memorial Award for High School Baseball Coach of the Year this past Tuesday, May 2, to Westminster varsity baseball head coach Rich Van Gilst.

Each year, the GSLAU honors a baseball and softball coach as the Hal Whiteaker Memorial Award winners. The award pays tribute to Hal Whiteaker, who was an umpire in the GSLAU and a varsity softball coach at Parkway West High School. The award was established to commemorate his outstanding leadership, sportsmanship, citizenship, and superior coaching skills, and honors award winners who display these same qualities.

Congratulations to Westminster Christian Academy’s Rich Van Gilst!
