Westminster Team Dances Their Way to Success at the St. Charles Classic Dance Competition

The varsity dance team claims fourth in hip hop and fifth in precision jazz at contest.

Westminster Christian Academy’s varsity dance team recently competed at the 20th Annual St. Charles Classic Dance Competition and placed fourth in hip hop and fifth in the precision jazz category.

The contest features junior and senior high dance and pom pon teams, in addition to community teams. Competition is fierce – with many of the top teams in the metro area competing for placement.

Despite a few setbacks as Westminster’s varsity dance team prepared for the contest, including teammate illness, conflicting college visit schedules, and reworking choreography, Westminster dancers remained resilient and performed with heart and outstanding effort.

“We felt a lot of pressure to bring our best and to work with little to no time,” says Brittany Hartloge, varsity dance team head coach. “Considering some of the adversity we faced, the girls did a fantastic job. We can't always be at the top and humility is a good lesson to learn. We are diligently preparing for our state competition in a few weeks, and I know that these routines will look amazing!"
