Westminster Wrestling Coach Honored for School Legacy

Mark Muehleisen may not often be found in the spotlight, but his efforts, hard work, and commitment to the sport of wrestling are evidenced on the gym floor mats at countless matches and in the lives of the student-athletes he has coached.

Mark is father to Tim Muehleisen, who serves as varsity head coach of Westminster Christian Academy’s wrestling team. Mark joins his son on the coaching staff as assistant head coach of the program. The father-son duo has been coaching the Wildcats together for 19 years.

At a surprise, informal recognition ceremony last night at a Parkway West match versus Westminster’s team, Mark was recognized for his impact on St. Louis wrestling and his legacy as a Parkway athlete. The school district is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, and Mark stands out as the third state medalist for wrestling in the school’s history. He claimed the achievement in 1972.

Parkway West wrestling coaches, also a father-son team – Chip and Zeke Allison – honored Mark with school memorabilia and a special recognition during last night’s match.

“Dad has been involved in wrestling at nearly every level – from little league to NCAA tournaments,” says Westminster Coach Tim Muehleisen. “The work he does often goes unnoticed, so it was really fun and valuable to me just to see him get recognized for all he has done.”
