Hepatitis C (HCV) is a serious disease related to cancer. HCV infection accounts for half of HCC cases in the United States and HCV-related disease is the leading indication for liver transplantation. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) currently recommends HCV testing for Baby Boomers (born between 1945-1965) who should receive one-time HCV testing.

(a) US born -- Birth year (1945 through 1965);

(b) History of drug use;

(c) History of receiving a transplant/transfusion.

Health Protection and Education Services (HPES) provides free health screenings, free Hep C testing, and physician consultation at no charge every third Saturday of the month at the University City Library located at 6701 Delmar Boulevard. Registration is from 9:00am - 10:30am. There are no appointments taken and no appointment is necessary.
