Dr. Grace Lee Named Principal of Brittany Woods Middle School

University City, MO – The School District of University City (SDUC) is pleased to announce Dr. Grace Lee will join the District as the principal of Brittany Woods Middle School on July 1, 2020. Dr. Lee will replace Elliott Shostak who is retiring in June. The District is grateful to Shostak’s 21 years of service.

A reception for Dr. Lee, open to District parents, staff and stakeholders, will be held on Monday, March 23 at
6 p.m. in the Brittany Woods Middle School library.

Dr. Lee is currently the principal of Hixson Middle School in the Webster Groves School District. Previously, she was a school social worker, an English-Language Arts teacher and an assistant principal at Parkway Northeast Middle School. She has more than 20 years of experience in education in the Jennings, Parkway and Webster Groves school districts.

Dr. Lee is a champion of systems and practices to ensure equity and access to opportunity for all children. She is an active proponent of trauma-informed practices in schools and a leader in integrating restorative practices in educational settings by leveraging student leadership.

She is a proven and respected leader in the use of restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches in education. She expects excellence from students and staff and puts students at the center. We are excited to see her leadership blossom at Brittany Woods Middle School.”

Dr. Lee holds doctorate and master’s degrees in educational administration from Lindenwood University, a master’s of social work from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor’s degree in middle school education from University of Missouri-Kansas City.
