Fortel's Pizza Den on Forsyth Holds Grand Opening

Fortel's Pizza Den on Forsyth held a grand opening Wednesday as it joined both the University City and Clayton Chambers of Commerce.

Jeff and Tara Bischoff officially opened the restaurant last December in the space at 7359 Forsyth. 

"We loved the neighborhood," Tara said. "We drove by and saw the location was for lease and that was it."

The previous tenant was also a pizzeria, so the space needed very little in the way of kitchen improvements.

In the few months since Fortel's opened, it has attracted a mix of walk-in, take out and delivery customers.

"We've got a really good draft beer selection," Jeff Bischoff said. "We've tweaked that menu slightly and our sandwiches seem to be really popular."

The biggest seller is of course the pizza.

"We use real mozzarella cheese and we load on the toppings," Tara said. 

The dough also is made fresh in store each morning.

"We want to be the neighborhood pizzeria," Tara Bischoff said. "And we're so happy to be here."
