HealthWorks! Kids' Museum Launches New Online Resource Guide

In an effort to provide Missouri residents with greater access to free or low-cost healthcare resources in their area, HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum St. Louis has created a comprehensive community guide, providing residents with quick and easy access to over 100 healthcare organizations and services throughout the state. The community guide can be accessed by visiting the museum’s newly launched website at www.hwstl.org and clicking on “health resources.”

The customizable guide allows users to search for resources based on topics that include emotional health, oral health, medical/immunizations, nutrition, prescription assistance, physical activity, safety and vision. Resources may also be searched based on location, with several regions of the state and counties listed for convenience.

The newly launched website, which was funded, in part, by Signature Healthcare Foundation and Delta Dental of Missouri, also features information about HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum St. Louis, the first and only children’s museum solely dedicated to health education in the St. Louis region. The website highlights individual exhibits and learning opportunities, upcoming events and ways that individuals and corporations can help support the museum’s work to stimulate imaginations, provide endless entertainment, and, above all, fill the void in health education in ways that inspire children and their families to make healthier choices for life. A Classroom Connect section will also be built out as an ongoing effort to equip teachers and parents with videos and tips to share with children that will teach them good health habits.

“While a visit to the museum can help motivate children and adults to strive for healthier lives, we recognize there are a number of families throughout Missouri who struggle to afford medical care and other health services,” said Shannon Laine, CEO of HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum St. Louis. “By creating the community guide, we aim to help those in need by offering a one-stop resource for those looking to access healthcare organizations, programs and resources at a discounted rate. Our goal is to help reduce kids’ health risks by making health education fun, so children and the community make positive oral and overall health choices – regardless of economic status. This guide is just one additional tool in that effort.”

Residents utilizing the community guide are encouraged to call the listed providers to ensure eligibility, availability of services and whether an appointment is required.
