Julia Goldstein To Be Honored At State Education Conference

UNIVERSITY CITY, MO — The Julia Goldstein Early Childhood Education Center is one of 19 Missouri schools being honored at the Powerful Learning Conference later this week in Osage Beach, Missouri, where more than 1,000 Missouri educators will gather for a school improvement initiative.

According to a news release, the school is being recognized for implementing and sustaining an exemplary professional learning community. The school originally achieved Exemplary PLC school status in 2016, officials said, and the center is the only early childhood program being recognized in the category.

School leaders collaboratively prepared a narrative describing how they have sustained practices since their original Exemplary designation and shared data to show that student achievement grown as a result of their focus on PLC practices, according to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

"The Julia Goldstein ECEC staff believes that working collaboratively to create, implement and monitor rich and meaningful educational experiences is the way to make sustained academic and social progress with our students," said Principal Crystal Cauley. "We believe in the capabilities of our students and their families, and work very hard to ensure that they are prepared for future learning. We are very proud of the work we do for and with our children."

The award will be presented by DESE deputy commissioners Roger Dorson and Stacey Preis, along with Missouri PLC field coordinator Rob Gordon.
