Just a reminder for back to school shipping: Missouri's back to school sales tax holiday is next month.
Just saw these signs on a store and it was a great reminder!
Here are five pieces of information on the Missouri Department of Revenue's website that might help if you plan to buy back-to-school items for the upcoming school year.
- The sales tax holiday in Missouri is Friday, Aug. 2 - Sunday, Aug. 4.
- Some items, including clothing, school supplies and computers are exempt from sales tax for this time period.Â
- You can find a list of cities here that have opted out of participating in the tax-free weekend. Ladue and Frontenac are on this list. This means state sales tax will still be waved at stores, but city sales tax will still be collected.
- St. Louis County is participating in the sales tax holiday. Find counties which opted out here.
- The sales tax exemption is limited to:
- Clothing – any article having a taxable value of $100 or less
- School supplies – not to exceed $50 per purchase
- Computer software – taxable value of $350 or less
- Personal computers – not to exceed $3,500
- Computer peripheral devices – not to exceed $3,500
