As always, lots going on in the food world around University City and the Delmar Loop. A U City favorite closes, a new chef takes over at Winslow's Home and two Delmar Loop restaurants close.Â
New Chef
Winslow's Home will soone have a new creative genius behind the stove. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Delmar Blvd. favorite has hired Wil Fernandez-Cruz as executive chef. He replaces Cary McDowell.

According to the Post, Fernandez-Cruz oversees the kitchen at Ibby's on the campus of Washington University. He will start at Winslow's in October.

Two restaurants in the Delmar Loop have closed in recent weeks.Â
The RFT reports that Horseshoe House has closed. The restaurant opened in 2011.Â
Booster's Cafe has also shut its doors. Sauce Magazine reported the closure on Sept. 25. The restaurant opened in 2007.Â
Pumpkin Fest
Market Pub House is bringing out the pumpkin beer. Pumpkin Fest will be held beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.
Fourteen craft pumpkin beers will be available. The Post-Dispatch reports that the options will include pumpkin beers from Ferguson, Kirkwood Station, O'Fallon, Crown Valley, Urban Chestnut, Six Row and Schlafly.Â
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and include a dinner buffet, four 4-ounce pours and a souvenir class.Â
