Three Teens Arrested In Connection With U. City Purse Snatching

The three teens — two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old — are being held on $75,000 bond. Police thanked citizens for numerous tips.

UNIVERSITY CITY, MO — Three teens have been arrested in University City in connection with an assault and purse-snatching that took place around 8 a.m. Monday morning in the 8600 block of Brookshire Lane, just south of the Ruth Park Golf Course.

A woman told police she was approached by three men who demanded her purse and that one of the suspects punched her after she initially refused to hand it over. The suspects then fled, but were captured on a nearby surveillance camera.

Police thanked citizens for numerous calls with leads about the suspects.

Officials say the three individuals — two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old — confessed to the assault and robbery, and evidence was turned over the the St. Louis Prosecutor's office. It's not clear whether the three have yet been formally charged, so Patch is withholding their names for now.

Bond for each of the teens was set at $75,000.
