Update: Fire at Washington University Dorm

No injuries were reported in the fire that occurred early Friday afternoon on the campus of Washington University.

Update: 1:45 p.m.

All traffic lanes have been reopened.

Northbound traffic is temporarily stalled between Wydown and Forsyth boulevards on Big Bend Boulevard following a brief fire on the campus of .

Construction materials caught fire early Friday afternoon outside of Wheeler Hall dorm while workers were welding pipes, said G. Mark Thorp, chief of the Clayton Fire Department.

"They were replacing insulated piping," Thorp said.

The dorm was vacant. 

Thorp said and responded around 12 p.m. Laclede Gas had a crew in the area which responded when it heard the call, but no gas lines were involved. 

The fire lasted less than 20 minutes.

No injuries have been reported. American Red Cross teams also reported to the scene to make sure first responders were well hydrated during the fire. 

Authorities originally believed the fire was caused by a gas leak, but that wasn't the case.
