U City Police: X-Box, MacBook Stolen in Burglaries

Each week, features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of June 10-16, 2013. 

The department arrested 58 adults and 15 juveniles. There was one report of homicide, six burglaries and one motor vehicle theft.

Monday, June 10

  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown pried open the window of his detached, locked garage in the 8300 block of Richard Ave.
Tuesday, June 11
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown forcibly opened the window screen in the 8000 block of Delmar, gained entry into the apartment, and stole a TV, MacBook, $150 cash, knife, 2 gold rings, a watch and a wooden box containing rare coins and foreign currency. 
Wednesday, June 12
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown broke the window in the basement door of his residence in the 700 block of Harvard and stole three watches, an X-Box 360 controller, money and headphones. The reporting party also stated that the suspect(s) had attempted to gain entry through the kitchen windows, as evidenced by damage to the screens. A suspect has been arrested and charged and the property recovered. 
  • Officers responded to the apartment to check the well-being of a resident who was absent from work. Upon arrival at the home in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Ave., officers discovered two deceased males, apparent victims of foul play. No obvious signs of forced entry present. 
Thursday, June 13
  • The reporting party stated she was arriving at her residence in the 1000 Raisher Ave. and observed a vehicle backed into the driveway of a neighbor's residence. She observed two males carrying items from the front door of the residence and putting them into the trunk of the vehicle. When the men realized she was watching them, they began to load the vehicle more quickly, then entered the vehicle and sped off. Upon arrival, the reporting officer observed the screen door of the residence to be propped open and the front door had been forced open. 
  • Officers were notified that a burned vehicle was recovered in St. Louis County. The owner stated he was not aware that his vehicle had been stolen. Keys possibly taken in burglary above. Officers inspected the residence at 4 a.m. and the vehicle was at the residence. Vehicle used in burglary in Florissant.
Saturday, June 15
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown attempted to pry open the side door to gain entry into the residence in the 7400 block of Washington Ave. Entry did not appear to have been gained, nor were any items missing. 
  • The reporting party stated person(s) stole the exterior A/C unit from the residence in the 700 block of Swarthmore Court. The suspect(s) also forcibly removed the grate from the basement window.
