U. City Superintendent Receives Stellar Performer Award
Superintendent Hardin-Bartley to be honored with the 2020 Stellar Performer in Education Award by the St. Louis American Foundation

The School District of University City is proud to announce that Superintendent Sharonica Hardin-Bartley will be honored with the 2020 Stellar Performer in Education Award by the St. Louis American Foundation.
The award, which recognizes Hardin-Bartley’s achievement, leadership and commitment to the community, will be presented Saturday, Oct. 17 during the St. Louis American Foundation’s 33rd Annual Salute to Excellence in Education Scholarship and Awards Virtual Gala. The award will be during the Saturday portion of the Gala, which will take place starting at 7 p.m. on the St. Louis American’s homepage, Facebook and YouTube channel.
“I am flattered to be recognized for this esteemed award,” Hardin-Bartley said. “I am a firm believer in the phrase ‘to whom much is given, much will be required.’ I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given and celebrate this award with the thousands of students, educators, parents, community leaders and partners who have had a hand in the critical work of providing all children a quality education with a laser-focused emphasis on wellness and racial equity.”

Hardin-Bartley is in her fifth year as superintendent for The School District of University City. During her tenure, she led the District through a dynamic, community-engaged process to build a vision of Learning Reimagined that stands on three pillars of humanizing, personalizing and problematizing the educational experience of students. Under her leadership, the District has gained a national reputation for its focus on the well-being of students, staff and families, its use of restorative practices, the promotion of student voice and sparking systemic change to build racial equity in the District.
Hardin-Bartley said, “Now more than ever, there is work to be done. I am honored daily to work alongside some of the most amazing educators, students, parents, and partners in our region.”
