When adults hear about an event being led by students or teenagers, there's sometimes a preconceived assumption that it will be unorganized and not well thought out. This is where our protest stands out. While planning in every online discussion, group members gave helpful ideas based on their own experiences with past protests they’ve attended to make sure the protest ran smoothly.
Naming the protest ‘Preserving Black Lives’ was to capture the importance of not only defunding the police, but also upgrading our economical stance, safeguarding our education, and understanding the hardships of those amongst marginalized communities. This protest will equip those who attend with enough knowledge to take action today, tomorrow, and every day after that.
“With everything going on I wanted to put together something that gave other students who looked like me and our allies a way for them to voice their frustrations, have an opportunity to stand up against adversity, and to plant a seed of change” Khloe’ Fox, Junior said.
