University City Hires Communications Director

Allison Bamberger is set to start in the role on January 14.

UNIVERSITY CITY, MO — University City has hired Allison Bamberger as the city's new communications director and assistant to the city manager, according to a news release. She will begin her new role on January 14.

Bamberger previously served as communications coordinator for St. Louis County. City Manager Gregory Rose said her political communications experience makes her "the perfect person to serve the citizens of University City."

"We went through hundreds of applications and talked to a number of people about this position, and I can say with confidence that Allison was the standout candidate," Rose said in a statement. "She has great experience, a passion for communications, an appreciation of the greater St. Louis area and, most importantly, she understands how to serve the community and loves doing it. Allison is going to be a fantastic addition to the city, and we're extremely pleased to have her joining us."

Bamberger holds a bachelor's degree in journalism with an emphasis on governmental reporting from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and a master's of communications management from Webster University. According to the news release, she began her career as a statehouse reporter for Learfield Communications and also reported for KMOX before going to work for the St. Louis County Executive.

"Government has long been a passion of mine, so to be able to be involved in a forward-thinking and inclusive city like University City is perfect for me," Bamberger said in a statement. "I've lived in the St. Louis area for the past seven years and have been able to see the great things that are happening here. I'm very honored and excited to now be part of this fantastic community."
