School Is Starting Already? Here Are 5 Things to Know

Remember the good ol' days when school started AFTER Labor Day? And you still had a good part of August to think about important things like slip-n-slides and popsicles and lightning bugs?

Now, the school supplies hit the shelves right after the Fourth of July. 

Here are five things you might want to think about—the first day of school isn't far away!

  • The first day of school for the Wentzville School District is Thursday, Aug. 15.
  • Are they out of supply lists at Walmart? Here's the link to the school supply lists for the Wentzville School District.
  • This school year (2013-2014) Holt, Timberland and Liberty run from 7:20 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.; Frontier, South and Wentzville Middle run from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Boone Trail, Duello, Green Tree, Heritage, Lakeview and Peine Ridge run from 8:20 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.; and Crossroads, Discovery Ridge and Prairie View run from 8:35 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. Quail Ridge Early Childhood runs from 9:10 a.m. to 4:05 p.m.
  • The first home football games this year are Aug. 30 for Timberland and Sept. 6 for Holt.
  • The district's third high school, Liberty High School, on Sommers Road in O'Fallon, will be opening its doors to its first class of freshmen this year!
