Wentzville Man Charged With Having Sex With Girl

A 23-year-old Wentzville man is charged with several crimes for having sex with a young family member four to seven years ago.

Michael A. Roper, 23, was charged Wednesday with three counts of first-degree sodomy, first-degree child molestation and furnishing pornography to a minor.

Wentzville Police said Roper had sex with the 13-year-old girl several times between September 2006 and September 2009. Police said that on several occasions, he made the girl watch pornography with him.

Roper told police he had no idea why the girl would say those things about him, and that he would never do those things to her.

Police asked Roper if he might have wrestled with the girl during this time or done anything inappropriate that would lead to her having these thoughts. According to a court document, Roper told police that would be highly likely.

Roper is being held in St. Charles County jail. Bail was set at $35,000.
