Week of January 6

Afterschool Cross Country Ski • Jan. 6 -27, ages 5+ The program includes ALL equipment, snacks, instruction, transportation. Meets Mondays or Wednesdays from 3:45 - 5:30 p.m., the registration fee is $66, or $55 with CityCard resident discount. Through a partnership with Missoula Nordic, we can provide skis, boots, and poles for your child. Ski locations are snow dependent, and we'll provide transportation. Lolo National Forest permits make this program possible. Youth Recreation Grants available, call 721-PARK.

Currents Adult Swim Development & Fitness School • Jan. 6 -29, ages 14+ Knowledgeable instructors teach you to swim or help you achieve your aquatics fitness goals. Meets M/W, 6:45 – 7:30 p.m., the registration fee is $38.50, or $31.50 with CityCard resident discount.

10 and Under Tennis Jan. 8 – Feb. 5, ages 5-10 An exciting play format for learning tennis! Brings kids into the game with specialized equipment and shorter court dimensions, all tailored to their age and size. It’s the fast, fun way to get kids into tennis – and keep them playing. Meets Wednesdays, 4 to 5:30 p.m., at the City Life Gym, 1515 Fairview. Registration fee is $55 or $45 with CityCard resident discount. The next session meets Feb. 12 through March 11.

Tiny Sprouts • Jan. 8 – Feb. 5, toddlers to age 3 Little ones, walking toddlers to age 3, will learn to play together with our soft and safe equipment. Parent participation is required. Meets Wednesdays, 10:15 - 10:45, at the City Life Gym, 1515 Fairview. The registration fee is $25/20 with CityCard resident discount.

Stepping On Fall Prevention Class • Jan. 8 - Feb. 19, ages 60+ Join Parks and Recreation, Missoula Aging Services, and the Montana DPHHS Injury Prevention Program for this fun, easy program to help prevent falls and maintain your personal independence! Stepping On is an evidence-based fall prevention program for adults age 60+. Over 7 weeks, participants learn exercises, methods, and strategies to build self-confidence, change behaviors and improve decision making for safe, independent living. Meets Wednesdays, Jan. 8 - Feb. 19, 1 - 3 p.m. at Fort Missoula Regional Park headquarters. Registration fee is $25 per person.

Co-Rec Volleyball Open Gym • Jan. 8 and Jan 13, ages 14+ Open play at the City Life Gym, 1515 Fairview from 7 to 9 p.m., $6 per person per session.

Currents Inner-Tube Water Polo • Deadline Jan. 9, ages 16+ Fun, exciting and best of all… you don’t need a lot of experience to be competitive! Currents’ Tube Polo League is pure recreation. Sit in the tube, pass the ball and score! But don’t get caught holding onto the ball too long—you might get tipped out of the tube! Five-player co-rec teams square off in the water in tournament play, little actual swimming ability required. Games are two, 12-minute halves. Teams are comprised of 5 players; including at least 2 females and 2 males. Games are Sundays, Jan. 12 – Mar. 8, 6 – 9 p.m. $96 per team.

Currents Family Fun Fridays - Save 50%! • January 10, all ages Bring the family to Currents for Friday night open swim and save 50% off regular admission! (40% off CityCard pricing.) $12 per family, up to 4 people. $3.50/additional family member. Meets January 10, March 13, April 10.

Missoula Movers Intro to Nordic Ski • Jan. 11, ages 18+ Learn to cross-country ski or improve your technique with these fun clinics. Meets Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Currents Aquatics Center, ski location to be determined. Bring lunch, water, weather-appropriate clothing. Rent skis and boots if needed at The Trail Head or Campus Rec. The registration fee is $22, or $20 with the CityCard resident discount. Snowshoe and Soak Clinic meets January 18, additional Intro to Nordic Ski clinics meet Feb. 8 and 15.

Learn to Play Pickleball Level 1 Clinics • Saturday, January 11, ages 12+ Learn the basics of the game and get ready for open or league play. All necessary equipment (paddles, balls, nets) provided. If you’ve never played pickleball, this is the place to start. Pre-registration is required, $6 per session. Meets 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at City Life Gym, next clinic is January 25.

Week of January 13

Missoula Movers Coffee Walks • Mondays, for active adults Enjoy the company of new friends on guided walks through Missoula’s conservation lands, parks, and trails. After the walk, enjoy a hot drink with fellow hikers! Meets Mondays at Currents, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is $7 per walk. (Sorry, no CityCard discount.)

Discovery Corp Afterschool Adventures • Ongoing, grades K-5 We provide afterschool transportation from Chief Charlo, Lewis and Clark, Lowell, Jeannette Rankin, Paxson, Rattlesnake, Russell and provide adventure-filled active programming for your child. Parents pick up at McCormick Park between 5-5:30 p.m. daily. Fee is $16.50 per day, Share The Fun Youth Recreation Grants available.

Currents Swim Squad • Ongoing, ages 6+ Kids will improve their swimming skills, learn turns, how to read a pace clock and build endurance while gaining the benefit and experience of a team environment.

Currents Open Kayak Nights • Ongoing, Ages 15+ Bring your cleaned and scoured kayak/paddle/skirt/life jacket to work on your roll skills. For 15 & up, youth under 15 allowed with direct adult supervision. Meets Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8-10 p.m., through April 30. Regular Currents admission fees apply.

Christmas Ever Green Dec. 26-Jan. 15 Recycle your holiday tree and make a voluntary donation to plant new trees in Missoula. Sponsored by Parks and Recreation, the Street Maintenance Division and Garden City Compost. Drop your Christmas tree for recycling at Playfair Park, McCormick Park, and Fort Missoula Regional Park (36th Ave parking lot) from December 26 to January 15. If you appreciate this service, please consider making a small donation to plant new trees at missoulaparks.org/donate. Residents may also recycle Christmas trees at no charge at Garden City Compost, 1125 Clark Fork Lane, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No yard waste, garbage, tree stands or decorations, please. Please do not use Parks drop sites after January 15.

Missoula Movers Snowshoe and Soak • Jan. 18, ages 18+ Learn to snowshoe or improve your technique with these fun clinics, snowshoes provided or bring your own. Meets Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Currents Aquatics Center, snowshoe location to be determined. Bring lunch, water, weather-appropriate clothing. The registration fee is $48, or $39 with the CityCard resident discount. Intro to Nordic Ski clinics meet Feb. 8 and 15.
