Corporate Cup Raises $320K to Fight Lung Disease

Yesterday, 4,700 people gathered at Aksarben Village in Omaha for the American Lung Association in Nebraska’s Fight For Air Corporate Cup powered by Green Plains, Inc. The event raised more than $320,000 to fund lung cancer research and critical local programs to help people who suffer from lung disease.

“This year in Nebraska, there will be more than 1,300 people diagnosed with lung cancer and almost 900 will die from the disease. Today, our community came together to fight lung disease and help raise money to fund critical lung cancer research,” said Julia McCarville, the executive director for the Lung Association. “Thank you to all of our participants, sponsors and volunteers who came together to make a difference in the lives of people facing lung disease.”

The Corporate Cup is a 10K and 2-mile run/walk. The event is the Lung Association’s signature fundraising event and is one of the largest corporate road races in the United States. Each year, the event attracts thousands of people from all over the region.

In total, the Corporate Cup resulted in:

• 4,700 runners and walkers
• 121 teams
• 250 volunteers
• $320,000 raised and counting.
