Area 51 Brothel Faces Nye County Code Charges

The county says several women working there have been doing so without having medical clearance.

Trouble of the celestial kind may be headed toward Area 51, the brothel owned by Dennis Hof of BunnyRanch fame. The Nye County Commission is looking into whether women working at the brothel had the proper working papers and medical clearance.

An inspector with the district attorney's office conducted a visit to the Area 51 Death Valley Cathouse in February and found that six of the 12 women working that day either did not have the proper working papers or medical clearance.

The commission is holding a hearing to determine if the brothel has been following the rules. Hof says it's a misunderstanding, that inspector never checked the women working that day with the working cards.

If the commission finds the business is in violation, Hof's license could be suspended.
