Inmate Escapes From Las Vegas Hospital

The hunt is on for an inmate who escaped from custody while at Muri State Hospital. Jay Cantrell had been brought there from High Desert State Prison for a psychological exam before a court hearing. Officials say he broke a window and escaped Monday night.

The Department of Corrections says that the 51-year-old Cantrell is a habitual criminal who has been in and out of prison - most recently in December after being convicted for grand larceny.

They say he's six-feet tall, 185 pounds and has brown eyes, brown hair, and a tattoo of a clown with jail bars on his left shoulder.

He was last seen wearing navy blue pants, a lack addidas shirt with orange stripes and black sneakers with velcro strips.

There had been a report that he had been captured but it turned out to be another inmate.
