Pahrump Officer-Involved Shooting: Deputies And Suspect Identified

Michael Bonini was killed during the execution of a search warrant.

The man shot and killed by Nye County Sheriff's Deputies while they were executing a search warrant on Tuesday has been identified as 65-year-old Michael Anthony Bonini of Pahrump. Deputies were executing a warrant for controlled substances around 2 a.m..

The sheriff's office says that deputies knocked on the door, announcing themselves. When no one answered, they forced the door and were met by Bonini who had a gun.

Shots were fired, said the sheriff. The deputies retreated.

With backup, they made a second entry into the house. They intended to provide medical assistance but Bonini was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two Nye County Sheriff's Office Deputies fired their weapons during the incident, Deputy Eric Anderson and Deputy Aaron Williamson. Anderson is 29 years old and has been with the Sheriff's Office since December of 2014. Williamson is 34 and has been with the Sheriff’s Office since November of 2016.

Both are currently on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and review of this incident.

This investigation has been turned over to the Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division to ensure transparency. At this time, I cannot comment any further on the investigation, and all questions about this incident should be referred to the Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division will provide the sheriff's office and the Nye County District Attorney’s Office with their conclusions and recommendations.

At that time the District Attorney will review the case in its entirety and make a decision or submit it to the Attorney General for his review and decision.
