Capriotti's Partners with Rescue Mission to Feed the Homeless

Fast-Casual Sandwich Chain Donates 500 Pounds of Turkey, Cranberry Sauce and Other Thanksgiving Essentials to Serve 500 People in Need

Las Vegas ranks seventh in the United States among states with the largest homeless population. As the holiday season approaches and number of COVID-19 cases are expected to resurge throughout the city, the homeless population are in need of support now more than ever.

In an effort to give back to those less fortunate, Las Vegas-based Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, known for its award-winning, hand crafted sandwiches, is partnering with the Las Vegas Rescue Mission to provide meals to neighbors in need this Thanksgiving.

Capriotti’s, in collaboration with some of its vendors, will be donating Thanksgiving meal essentials to the mission; including 500 lbs. of Butterball turkeys, cranberry sauce, cookies, tuna, cheese and more – enough to feed more than 500 people in need in the Las Vegas community. Participating vendors include Butterball, SYSCO, Kens, Kraft, Ocean Spray Cranberries, Saputo, Hopes Cookies, Campbell’s, Atalanta and B&G Food. Those interested can come to the mission on Wednesday, November 25th at 3:00pm for a hot, holiday meal in a safe environment following strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

“Family is an integral part of who we are at Capriotti’s – and a huge part of our family is right here in our backyard of Las Vegas. This has been a challenging year for all of us, but supporting one other and our community through times of hardship has been what has helped us all weather the storm,” said Ashley Morris, CEO of Capriotti’s. “Now, we are honored once again to play a small role in the Las Vegas Rescue Mission’s efforts to provide hot meals and a sense of comfort to our neighbors in need this Thanksgiving.”

Recent research suggests the number of COVID-19 cases will rise among the homeless populations in the nation’s major cities. Especially at the onset of the holiday season, the pandemic will add additional stressors for this population. Through this initiative, Capriotti’s and its vendors have committed to provide these Thanksgiving meal essentials to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission this season to lend a helping hand with the goal to restore hope.

About Las Vegas Rescue Mission

The Las Vegas Rescue Mission has been assisting homeless men, women and children in the community for nearly five decades. Since our beginning in 1970, the Mission has been providing food to the hungry every day, shelter to the homeless, and an addiction recovery and back-to-work program for those who have lost their way. The Mission started with a small storefront building that included the chapel, kitchen and shelter that was able to house a few men. Today, the Mission campus takes up two city blocks in Downtown Las Vegas, helping hundreds of men, women and children daily, and providing approximately 30,000 meals each month. As a nonprofit Christian organization, the Mission receives no government support, except for a small grant specifically for food. It provides services to all people without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, gender, religion or disability. For more information on the Mission, please visit www.vegasrescue.org.
