CCSD Superintendent Candidate Drops Out: Report
John Deasy, former superintendent of LAUSD, has removed himself from consideration for Clark County School District superintendent.

LAS VEGAS, NV - John Deasy, who was named last week as one of four people under consideration to become the next superintendent of Clark County School District, has removed himself from the pool of candidates, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Thursday.
Deasy's decision comes the morning after the CCSD Board of Trustees moves to "update the superintendent search schedule," during the Wednesday, April 11 school board meeting. The official website of the superintendent search said Thursday morning previously scheduled interviews for Friday and Monday, community hearings for those interviews, and an April 19 vote to decide the new superintendent are now all set for a "date and time forthcoming."
The Board voted to expand the candidate search after the search firm hired by the school district, Ray & Associates, didn't produce any current CCSD employees among the final candidates, The Nevada Independent reported. The Independent reported that interviews will now be held on April 27, with community hearings on April 28 and a vote on May 2.

Deasy's most recent superintendent job was with the Los Angeles Unified School District from 2011-14. Three candidates named last week - Donald Haddad, Shonda Huery Hardman, and Jesus Jara - will be joined by a yet to be identified pool of internal candidates after Wednesday's vote.
Current CCSD Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky is retiring in June.
