City Of Las Vegas Offering Free Paint Hazard Remediation

If your home was painted with old, hazardous paint, contact the city of Las Vegas about a free remediation.

LAS VEGAS, NV - The city of Las Vegas is teaming up with UNLV to make older homes safer around the city. If your home has any lead paint hazards it may be eligible for remediation free of charge. As part of the Healthy Homes Program, the city is offering assessments of older homes to eliminate lead paint hazards and "protect children and families."

The program is being funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control. To be eligible, a home must have been built prior to 1978 and be confirmed with the Clark County Assessor. Each home will be assessed by an EPA certified lead-based paint assessor. Homeowners and landlords as well as renters are eligible for the program. The cost of remediation cannot exceed $20,000.

Eligible homes will be prioritized first by those with children five years or younger and expecting mothers, then by the lowest income, and the number of units if the applicant is a housing unit. For more information contact Earlie King at 702-229-5935 or emking@lasvegasnevada.gov.
