Golden Knights Add Piece Before Trade Deadline
Tomas Tatar is the newest member of the Golden Knights after Vegas shipped three draft picks to Detroit for the 27-year old winger.

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Vegas Golden Knights were obvious buyers going into the NHL's trade deadline. With a Western Conference-best 86 points, the Knights are all in on a 2018 Stanley Cup run in the franchise's inaugural season and a roster move made on Monday illustrated such. The Golden Knights have traded for Detroit Red Wings winger Tomas Tatar, according to multiple reports.
The move adds a 27-year old seven-year NHL veteran to the Knights' roster. Tatar scored 16 goals and had 12 assists so far this year for Detroit. The decision to bring Tatar to add Tatar to the roster came at a steep price. Jesse Granger of the Las Vegas Sun reported that the Golden Knights sent Detroit three draft picks, including this year's first round pick, in exchange for Tatar.
Along with Vegas' first round pick in 2018, Detroit also reportedly hauled in Vegas' second round pick in 2019 and third round pick in 2021.

Before trading for Tatar, the Knights also showed interest in acquiring Ottawa Senators captain Erik Karlsson, according to a report from the Ottawa Sun.
Tatar has 115 goals and 107 assists since entering the league in 2010. His best season came in 2014-15, when he played in all 82 games for Detroit and scored 29 goals with 27 assists.

The Knights also added prospect Philip Holm, acquiring him from Vancouver in exchange for Brendan Leipsic. Holm made his NHL debut last week in Las Vegas for Vancouver, when the Knights beat the Canucks 6-3.
The Golden Knights bring in 27-year-old Tomas Tatar from Detroit, but they've paid a premium for him. 1st this year, 2nd in 2019 and a 3rd in 2021. #VegasBorn
