Golden Knights Win At Home; Fleury's Status A Mystery

Marc-Andre Fleury left Tuesday's game at T-Mobile Arena in the first period with an apparent injury.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Vegas Golden Knights goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is not traveling with the team today as the Knights leave for San Jose. Fleury left Tuesday's game in the first period, from an apparent injury, and did not return. On Wednesday, Golden Knights head coach Gerard Gallant said Fleury would stay at home for the beginning of the road trip, but might rejoin the team before Saturday's game in Colorado.

Fleury's exit Tuesday night made way for Malcolm Subban to make his first appearance since Feb. 2. Subban stopped 22 of 23 shots as the Golden Knights beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-1 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

"Setbacks sometimes can affect you a little bit, so focus on the little things in practice," Subban said of preparing to return to action after an upper body injury kept him off the ice for nearly two months. "It's been a while but the guys made it pretty easy."

Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, who scored his sixth goal of the season in a three-goal first period, called Subban's relief performance "unbelievable."

"He's been working hard to come back," Bellemare said. "It's a good game for him."

Fleury's status, meanwhile, is still a mystery. He left the game after turning away a Canucks shot on goal. Fleury missed 25 games earlier in the season with a concussion.

Next up for the Golden Knights is a contest against the Sharks in San Jose, Thursday at 7 p.m.
