Las Vegas 51s Ask For Community Input In Total Brand Overhaul

LAS VEGAS, NV - This will be the final season of the Las Vegas 51s. After the 2018 season the team will move out of their longtime home at Cashman Field in Downtown Las Vegas to their new one, Las Vegas Ballpark, in Downtown Summerlin. With the move the team will change its name, logo, and major league affiliation.

A new ownership group decided on a complete rebranding of the Pacific Coast League baseball team.

"We are moving to the beautiful new Las Vegas Ballpark at Downtown Summerlin and a new Major League affiliation in 2019. Our ownership group, The Howard Hughes Corporation, wants the transition to be a home run complete with a new name and new logo," said 51s President and COO Don Logan.

The team's next Major League affiliate is not yet known.

Fans will have a say in what the next name will be for Las Vegas' baseball team. On Monday, the team started a sweepstakes to submit name suggestions either through the team's website (www.lv51.com) or Facebook page. There's no guarantee that any of the submitted names will be chosen as the team's new name, but it's possible, and at the very least the best submission will still win a prize.

Submissions will be accepted until April 30 and the grand prize winner will be drawn on May 4, and will receive a $500 shopping spree at the team's shop at the new Las Vegas Ballpark.

"This should be a community guided process and we love the fact that our fans will be involved with this procedure," Logan said.
