Lights FC, NuWu Cannabis, Announce First Of Its Kind Partnership

Cannabis and professional sports merge for the first time ever in Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS, NV - In recent years two major industries have looked at Las Vegas for expansion: professional sports and cannabis. On Friday those two industries merged. NuWu Cannabis Dispensary announced its sponsorship of Las Vegas Lights FC, a landmark partnership that represents the first time a cannabis dispensary and a professional sports team have partnered in America.

"The biggest dispensary in the world is local, and locals support our team," a NuWu promotional video announcing the sponsorship said. Nuwu's website says it is the "largest medical and recreational marijuana marketplace worldwide," with 16,000 square feet of space.

In 2018, Lights FC became the latest professional sports team to migrate to Las Vegas. The NHL's Golden Knights just won their first playoff game in franchise history, the NFL's Raiders are in the process of constructing a nearly $2 billion stadium to start play in Las Vegas in 2020, and the WNBA's Aces just selected A'ja Wilson with the first overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft Thursday night.
