McCarran International Airport Passenger Totals Keep Soaring
After a record setting 2017, passengers totals at McCarran International Airport are still climbing, January totals show.

LAS VEGAS, NV - Passenger numbers at McCarran International Airport continued to trend upwards in the first month of 2018. According to a press release, the airport experienced a 2.7 percent increase in passengers in January 2018 compared to January 2017.
Last year was the busiest in the airport's history, with 48.5 million passengers coming and going in 2017.
This January, the airport counted 3,776,299 passengers. Of the nearly 3.8 million people who traveled through Las Vegas' airport, 3.4 were on domestic flights - which saw a 2.4 percent uptick in passengers. Just over 277,000 flights were international, however that was still a 3.4 percent increase from last year.

Spirit Airlines saw the largest percentage increase in passengers when comparing January 2018 to January 2017, taking on an additional 16.5 percent of passengers. United Airlines took the biggest hit, with a nearly 10 percent decrease. The five busiest airlines serving McCarran for the month were:
- Southwest Airlines: 1,397,868 (3.5 percent increase)
- American: 359,927 (1.9 percent increase)
- Delta: 317,110 (2.3 percent decrease)
- Spirit: 277,348 (16.5 percent increase)
- United: 261,436 (9.8 percent decrease)
On Jan. 8, ride share and taxi pickups at McCarran reached a single-day record high, when 18,413 people grabbed a taxi and 11,465 people used either Uber or Lyft to be picked up from the airport.
