Music of Female Composers is a performance directed by Cindy Lee in celebration of International Women's Day. It will be March 6 at 7 p.m. at Winchester Dondero Cultural Center Theater. Where male composers of classical music are household names, it is important to recognize the music created by iconic female composers, such as the works of Clara Schumann, Anna Bon, Fanny Mendelssohn, and more.
International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, political and artistic achievements of women. Ever since 1911, is has been celebrated on the 8th of March every year and is a focal point in the movement for woman's rights.

Cindy Jihyun Lee, pianist, is an active performer and teacher who currently serves as a vice president of the Las Vegas Music Teachers Association for the term 2019-2022 as well as a co-chairman of the Silver State Competition. Born in Seoul, Cindy won the Korean New Daily Competition at age nine and has performed at prestigious concert halls in the US and Korea, including the Carnegie Hall, KBS Hall, and the Seoul Arts Center.
Moonlight Tran, cello, a longtime Las Vegas resident, has been a member of the Las Vegas Philharmonic since 2000, along with performing in Broadway shows and at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Ms. Tran is also an active chamber recitalist and is a founding member of the Firenze Sextet and the Zirna Piano Trio, the Las Vegas Piano Trio.

Dámaris Morales is an accomplished pianist hailing from the Dominican Republic who has dedicated enormous efforts to the research and preservation of music written by women composers. Ms. Morales also serves as adjudicator in numerous competitions and as master-class clinician for the Music Teachers Associations of Nevada, Florida and New York.
Marta Plominska is a Polish flutist who has performed in Europe and the United States, winning awards domestically and abroad. Plominska has collaborated with many orchestras including Krakow Opera, Springer Opera House, Nevada Chamber Orchestra, Pan-European Philharmonia, PassionArt Orchestra and the Polish Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Joan Sobel, soprano vocalist, has sung leading operatic roles with a variety of shows from New York to Paris. A Virgnia native, Sobel has also performed locally with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, extensively worked with local composers on original music and has sung many times at the Cabaret Showroom at The Smith Center.
Winchester Dondero Cultural Center is located at 3130 S. McLeod Drive, just north of Desert Inn Road. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 on the day of event.
