Nevada Has Seen Some of the Greatest Housing Growth Over Time

A recent analysis shows how much housing in the U.S has grown over the last three decades, and Nevada is leading the pack.

Housing in the country has seen major changes over the last few decades. A new study looked into how much housing availability has grown and found Nevada is one of the states that’s seen the most growth.

The state saw a 147.79% increase in available housing between 1990-2019, compared to the national average of 36.59%. Some of the largest growth occurred in the Southwestern part of the country, with Utah and Arizona seeing a great increase in availability as well.

Looking at a more recent time frame, Nevada saw a 9.41% increase in housing availability between 2010-2019. The country saw a 5.99% increase between that time. The most recent state of available housing in Nevada is 2.4 per capita, according to this analysis.

When looking at selected trends, Nevada was one of the states with the highest percentage of homes built during a time period. Between 1990 and 1999, 27.04% of homes were built, with an additional 25.41% being built between 2000 and 2009. 15.40% of homeowners moved to Nevada between 2015 and 2016, 37.38% moved to the state in 2017 and later.

Looking at the country overall, you can see how much housing has become available. Just in the last 30 years, the entire country’s available housing has increased by over 36%, and increased by almost 6% (5.99) in just the last decade. The current state of available housing across the U.S. is 2.35 units per capita.
