New Data: Las Vegans Will Spend Over Week Commuting in 2019.

That puts local commuters above national average.

How’s this for frustration: in the amount of time you’ll spend behind the wheel during your morning and evening commutes this year, you could’ve taken a week’s vacation; plus an extra day. Even more frustrating, Southern Nevada’s calculations are just above the national average of 7.4 days.

A group called Educated Driver crunched the numbers and reports the drive times in America are only increasing.

On the bright side, 8.23 days for Southern Nevada is much better than the worst metropolitan area ranked in this survey which has drivers positioned to spend 13 days worth of commuting in 2019. Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

  • The East Stroudsburg, PA Metro Area has 2019's worst commute times. Here the average worker can expect to spend 13 full days driving to and from work this year.
  • The #2 and #3 slots are taken by the New York-Jersey City-White Plains, NY-NJ Metro Division and the New York-Newark-Jersey City, NY-NJ-PA Metro Area commutes--both of which result in about 12 days a year spent driving.
  • The Washington DC area claims two of the top ten worst spots at 11.6 days of driving in 2019.
  • Other portions of the NY Metro area round out the top ten, meaning the NY Metro has 4 of the top 10 worst commutes in the country.
  • The Oakland-Hayward-Berkeley, CA Metro Division is the only west coast area in the top 10 at 11.3 days of driving to and from work for 2019.
