Collins is perhaps best known as the singer who replaced Peter Gabriel as the face of Genesis in 1975, having previously been the band’s drummer since its inception. At the time, Gabriel left the band to pursue a solo career.
Collins’ list of awards and accomplishments is quite extensive. He has been nominated for 28 Grammy awards, tallying eight wins. Most recently, Collins, 68, was nominated for best roots gospel album in 2017 for his work, “The Best of the Collingsworth Family - Vol. 1.”

Before that, his last Grammy nomination was in 1999 for best song written for a motion picture, TV or other visual media. That was for the wildly popular single “You’ll Be In My Heart,” which was featured prominently in the animated film, “Tarzan.” That year, he won best soundtrack album for — you guessed it — “Tarzan.”
