  • Always have an adult supervising children in the pool. Even if everyone knows how to swim, it's important to have someone close and paying attention who can react quickly in case of an accident. Have at least one adult within arm's reach.
  • If possible, place a fence surrounding the pool to prevent children from falling into it when it's not in use. The fence or barricade should be tall enough that the child isn't able to climb over it.
  • Check the drains on your pool, small children are more likely to get tangled in them. Make sure they're not swimming or playing close to a drain or suction outlet.
  • Teach children at a young age about the risks and how to use a pool safely.
  • Never let children swim alone, even if they're wearing flotation devices or they know how to swim at least one adult should always be inside the pool with them.

Following these simple safety tips every time your children are in a pool can prevent an accident while they still enjoy the hot summer days.
