West Las Vegas Arts Center Receiving New Mural

Local artist Dray has been selected by the city to give a facelift to the West Las Vegas Arts Center.

LAS VEGAS, NV - The West Las Vegas Arts Center is getting a facelift thanks to a local artist. On Friday, May 11, the arts center will show off its brand new mural, courtesy of Las Vegas artist Dray. The mural will be unveiled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Dray will be available for a meet and greet.

Dray's proposal was chosen by a panel of art professionals working for the city of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Arts Commission. He began painting on March 28, and is expected to complete the project by the end of this month. The mural's theme will be building relationships, and the city hopes that when it is finished it will "promote community engagement and detract from negative activity."

Dray was born in Los Angeles in 1966 and moved to Las Vegas in 2000. According to his bio, he was "one of the first local artists to live and work in the Downtown Las Vegas Arts District." He's also served on the First Friday Advisory Committee
