City Of Reno Names Assistant City Manager

The City of Reno has announced the hire of Jackie Bryant as the new Assistant City Manager.

The City of Reno has announced the hire of Jackie Bryant as the new Assistant City Manager. Bryant begins her employment with the City today, Monday, April 26, 2021.

The Assistant City Manager performs top-level administrative work while assisting the City Manager with the direction and coordination of the activities of assigned City departments and/or divisions; provides leadership in policy formation and implementation of policies and procedures for assigned departments; promotes effective and efficient operations throughout the organization by facilitating interdepartmental cooperation and sharing of resources; and provides staff assistance to the City Manager, City Council, and department heads.

Bryant comes to the City of Reno from the Second Judicial District Court, where she was the Clerk of Court and Court Administrator. She held that position since November 2014. In this role, Bryant was responsible for the operations of the District Court and oversaw all members of the Executive Leadership Team.

“We are incredibly excited to add Jackie to our City of Reno team,” City Manager Doug Thornley said. “Jackie has a wealth of administrative knowledge and is going to lend her expertise in Community Development, Public Works, Housing, franchise management, and Sustainability.”

Bryant previously served as a Nevada Governor's Deputy Chief of Staff and General Counsel; Insurance Counsel and Hearing Officer to the Nevada Division of Insurance (DOI); Staff Counsel to the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN); and as an Attorney Associate for Holland & Hart. She practiced in the areas of public utility law, insurance law, and administrative law and worked in both the public and private sectors.

“I’m excited to bring my experience in Nevada to the City of Reno,” Bryant said. “I’m honored to help lead the city as we slowly come out of the pandemic and enter a new and promising era for The Biggest Little City.”

Bryant earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine and her law degree from California Western School of Law. She moved to northern Nevada in 1998 to work for the PUCN. She loves the climate and relaxed, authentic nature of Nevadans. On weekends, she spends her time gardening, hiking and riding horses
