Reno Gas Main Installation Work Begins On 7th Street

On Monday, April 5, 2021, NV Energy will begin work to upgrade its natural gas service with the installation of an eight-inch steel natural gas main. The work will take place on West 7th Street from Rhode Island Drive to Keystone Avenue.

Throughout the approximate six-month project, NV Energy’s contractor for the project, Q&D Construction, will be working with detours in place. Full road closures are not anticipated at this time.
“We regularly make upgrades to our system in order to meet the needs of the growing number of customers,” said Jesse Murray, NV Energy Vice President of Gas Delivery. “Installing this natural gas main will ensure that customers throughout the Reno-Sparks area will continue to have safe and reliable natural gas service. We apologize for the inconvenience this work may cause and are making every effort to minimize traffic disruptions to the area.”

As the installation of the gas main progresses and construction makes its way toward the eastern project limit, work will be taking place during nighttime hours to minimize disruptions to area traffic.The project scope also includes restoring the asphalt on West 7th Street and Keystone Avenue after the work has been finalized.
Every effort will be made to minimize traffic inconveniences and to maintain appropriate signage to assure road safety in work areas. Please allow for additional time when traveling in this area. Traffic lane closures and detours are available at Reno.gov/RoadClosures.
