Reno Man Arrested After Standoff Identified

Police say Juan Mena had a warrant for his arrest and was known to officers before his Thursday arrest.

RENO, NV - Reno police have identified a man they arrested in a Thursday afternoon standoff. Twenty-four year old Juan Mena was arrested after fleeing police and entering a residence near Smithridge Dr. and Filbert Rd.

Police say Mena was known to have gang ties and had an active felony warrant out for his arrest. Mena was followed by an officer who recognized him near Gentry Way. Mena then fled his vehicle and entered the home. Responding officers from RPD, Washoe County Sheriff's Office, and Washoe County School Police surrounded the home and the Critical Incident Negotiation Team convinced Mena to surrender peacefully.

Court records show Mena is being held for violating conditions of release. His bail was set at $50,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 15.
